- Floristry is art, but it is also a business!
Our Luxe Mother's Day arrangement was a HIT!! BUT...Was it profitable? Mother's Day is one of the biggest events on a florist’s calendar. The shop is buzzing, orders are flying in, and emotions are high, but once the last bouquet has been delivered and the petals settle, there’s one crucial task left: Review your numbers. As tempting as it is to breathe a sigh of relief and move on, this is the most important time to stop, reflect, and document EVERYTHING while it’s still fresh in your mind. Here’s why it matters : When you take the time to evaluate what worked (and what didn’t), you’re setting yourself up for a smoother, smarter, and more profitable Mother’s Day next year. The notes and insights you capture now will become your roadmap for success. What you should be recording : Best sellers: What products flew out the door? Slow movers: What didn’t sell as well as expected? Profit margins: Which products or packages gave you the best return? Sales performance: Did you hit your goals or fall short? Calculate the percentage increase or decrease in sales compared to last year. Team feedback: Was your staffing level right for the workload? Marketing performance: What strategies drove orders—email marketing, social posts, local ads? Customer feedback: Were there any common praises or complaints? Operational wins and challenges: What processes worked well? Where were the bottlenecks? Set KPIs ( Key Performance Indicators ) for next year Once you have all this information, use it to set meaningful goals for next year: Revenue targets Profit percentage goals Stock and supply ordering limits Turnaround times for pre-orders and delivery Customer satisfaction benchmarks By setting these KPIs NOW , you’re not only building a stronger business, you’re saving yourself time, stress, and money in the future. Final Thought: Floristry is creative, emotional, and joyful—but it’s also a business . The more data you collect and analyse, the more confidently you can make decisions. So take an hour. Grab your laptop (and maybe a leftover sweet treat from the weekend), and start!! Next Mother’s Day, you’ll be so grateful you did! Why Flowers for Mum This Mother’s Day? (And Why Buying Local Matters More Than Ever) The Real Florist Premium Bouquet There’s something timeless about giving flowers for Mother’s Day. It’s not just about the beauty of a bouquet—it’s about what those blooms say. They say: “Thank you for every late night, early morning, and all the love in between.” “I see you.” “I appreciate you.” “You’re blooming amazing.” Flowers carry meaning in a way words sometimes can't. And when those flowers are grown and designed locally? That love grows even deeper. Why Is Local Support Important? Supporting local florist isn’t just a feel-good moment—it’s a powerful choice.
