- Why do Wedding flowers cost what they do?
That is the age old question, why are weddings so expensive?! Is it a secret wedding industry tax? Wedding flowers can be a major expense for couples, but there are plenty of reasons why they can be so costly. There is ways to keep your budget down - see our blog post "how to budget wedding flowers" The simple answer is, no, there is no secret wedding tax. They cost what they are worth. The value is in the quality, the education, the work and the labour. Here is our top five reasons why wedding flowers cost as much as they do: Quality: Wedding flowers are usually of a higher quality than those used for everyday occasions. We go the extra mile to ensure that the flowers used for weddings are the freshest and most vibrant, and this usually translates to a higher price tag. Seasonality: Depending on the time of year, some flowers may be more expensive than others due to their seasonal availability. If you're looking for a specific type of flower, it may not be available at a particular time of year, and this could cause the price to be higher. We recommend not getting caught up on flower type, and instead focusing your attention on the colour and style you want your flowers to portray. Variety: Flower arrangements for weddings often require a variety of different types of flowers, which can add up to a hefty price tag. The more premium the flower, the more premium the price tag can be. Preparation: A lot of work goes into preparing the flowers for a wedding. We need to ensure that the flowers are in the best condition and that the arrangements are aesthetically pleasing. This takes time and money. The preperation for your wedding flowers starts up to 7 days before your wedding. From the ordering, the unpacking, the preperation and then the creating. Labor: Finally, the labor involved in creating wedding flower arrangements is usually more expensive than for everyday arrangements. We need to be paid for our time (as much as we LOVE what we do) and expertise, which is reflected in the cost of the flowers. By understanding why wedding flowers cost as much as they do, couples can plan and budget accordingly. Finding the right florist and selecting the right flowers can help to minimize costs while still achieving the desired look.

- Christmas Gifting
How is it that we are almost in December already?? Is it just us, or has this year flown by! This will be The Real Florists third Christmas trading in the Albury CBD but our FIRST without any restrictions!! As you would know like us, a majority of retailers had to re-evaluate their business strategies during COVID, being that retailers could no longer rely on foot traffic in their doors, most concentrated on their online operations to keep trading. Post COVID this is where a lot of us will continue to see our trade operate. If COVID has taught us anything, it is that so much can still be done from the comfort of your own home, it is the new normal in these busy lives we lead. The convenience of pick up in-store or delivery rather then the slow shop around instore. However, after the last two years of lockdowns and uncertainty people are looking to shop experiences over gifting this year and what a fabulous opportunity for your business to monetize what you do over what you sell!! It is the perfect opportunity to bring people in to experience what you have to offer, think VIP nights, in-store demonstrations or workshops (like our Christmas Wreath Workshop) that people can gift themselves or do as a group activity with family and friends. We want to spend time with the ones we love doing something that brings us joy. All business' have something unique to offer, so start thinking about what makes you unique, and offer that experience to your cliental or collaborate with a neighbouring like minded business. collaboration over competition is the best way forward for everyone. We are entertaining again, people are travelling from interstate and even overseas, so give them THE WOW FACTOR when you are welcoming them back into your homes with a beautiful florist made wreath on the door, gorgeous Christmas themed flowers down the tables or a gorgeous hamper full of locally made gifts. Whilst your loved ones are here show them EXACTLY why we love where we live. With good retailers, delicious food, fabulous regional hospitality and amazing customer service (and may we say delicious coffee) Albury Wodonga is busting with a good time!! Hello, I’m Nikita! (Yes my parents love Elton John and so do I) Coffee making, flower creating and getting to know all of the different flowers of the seasons is what gets me up in the morning! And I can’t think of a better way to spend my days. When I’m not at the Real Florist, you can find me taking care of my plants at home, skipping through the vineyards with a glass in hand and when I can, by the ocean soaking up the sun or in a crowd enjoying some live music. I can’t wait to meet you all! Nikita Tiny Floweret

Finding Renee and The Real Florist dream went a little something like this.... "Please find attached my boring corporate world 9 to 5 resume. After 12 years in the administration and accounting world I have spread my wings in search of greener pastures and a creative lifestyle change. I am a self confessed crazy plant lady who basically lives in a jungle now (is my son still here, who knows?!) and adore everything nature gives us, especially flowers! I was appointed office barista in my previous role, making coffees for customers and staff regularly.I have had some brief training on making coffees and with a little extra guidance my barista skills would vastly improve. I love being creative and the opportunity to extend that into flowers is a dream. I am a real fun-GI 🍄 and believe I would be a great fit with the team." It was a match made in heaven, and twelve months later I am still here, blossoming and growing with Renee and her incredible business. Laura Blossiming Blooms Flower Lover Doer of all the Things
- Meet The Real Florist Team
"Mum, are you the REAL florist?" That was the question, from my then 4-year-old daughter, as she listened in on a brain storming session I was having with a life long friend about the business I wanted to create. It went a little like this: "I am a REAL florist. I have REAL qualifications. I have a REAL passion for flowers and a REAL talent for making floral creations that truly reflect and connect with the REAL people they have been made for." At this moment, sitting around our kitchen table, The Real Florist was created! Weddings, corporate events and workshop were my passion, then COVID happened and the foreseeable future of the business was lost. I was flowering from my kitchen bench with my kids by my side, dreaming of coffee and one day owning a florist café. So we pivoted the business. Now, here we are, nearly two years later, in a beautiful space that incorporates everything we love!! As someone who loves meeting people and being involved in my community, it fills me with joy to be provided love, spreading joy and providing thanks, or delivering a heartfelt sorry. My team and I put a little piece of our heart into every arrangement we make. We pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality arrangements across the border with flowers that are full of personality. Our flowers are full of personality, because we get to know you on a personal level. It is a beautiful thing to love what you do every day and have built the business to work around my family has been the most amazing experience. Renee Owner & Founder of The Real Florist
